A Rant About The Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs have been my favorite major league baseball team for a long time now. I've seen them have plenty of difficulties over the years, but I'm starting to get tired of them consistently being an average team within the MLB. The Cubs had a lot of potential going into the start of this year's season, but somehow managed to squander it when it mattered the most for them. The teams lack of consistency is apparent to almost every Cubs fan. One game they could perform very poorly and lose by a lot of runs, and the next game against the same team they can absolutely crush the team. Thats due their bullpen, defense and. hitting.
Usually if you want to win a baseball game,
you want to be able to hit the baseball. Apparently, that's a very hard thing
to do for some of the Cubs players. Despite being skillful enough to be a part
of the MLB, they just cannot make contact. If players make contact, it's
against a mediocre team that a high school team could've hit off of. It's a
joke and I'm getting tired seeing games where the Cubs crush the ball on one
game, and then can't hit a baseball to save their lives in the next. God forbit
it's an important game that really matters for the Cubs, because they won't be
hitting for the entire game.
The Cub's defense is also a problem in itself.
The fielders sometimes miss easy plays or mess up your everyday throws to
bases. Errors at critical moments in a game are especially apparent which just
further hurts the Cubs reputation and gifts the other team free runs or bases.
Watching some of the Cubs games this year, you may even mistake them for a
little league team whose players have only been playing baseball for one or two
years. Along with the fielders actually doing their job, pitching is also a
major problem with the Cubs defense. A pitcher is supposed to control the game
by controlling the batter. If a pitcher can't throw strikes and effectively
keep the batter guessing about the next pitch, the batters will simply eat the
pitcher up. Our pitchers are throwing too many balls which gives the other team
free bases and free runs. There is no excuse for simply mistakes at the most
professional level.
This year was supposed to be full of so much
potential for the Cubs, and they definitely didn't live up to their hype that
they had before the season started. All I know is, I'm getting tired of the
Cubs being the same story every year. Starting off with so much promise, but
then not being able to deliver every single year.
